Modularism vs Holism in Neuroscience
For some reason this dichotomy is not mentioned in english as much as it is in spanish. For now I just leave some literature I have seen regarding it in both languages:

My professors at GRUNECO would tell me the main idea was whether the function emerged from the network or from a single area (conectivismo vs locacionismo/localizacionismo).
Notice Connectionism in English is more a term of AI rather than neuroscience, check the wikipedia page
